Question

I had Juvederm injected 10 days into my lips. I’m not very happy with the results. I feel like my top lip was over injected (my lips were very small to start with) so now my top lip protrudes over my bottom lip, “ducky”. Also, it looks like the filler was placed outside of my borders. I’m just not happy. Am I freaking myself out? Or do they look decent? Not sure why do to.

It may be too soon to tell what your final result will be. You may still have swelling, which can be asymmetrical and last 1 to 2 weeks after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi there! Based on your pictures, it seems that you may still be swollen. I would wait about 2-3 weeks for the swelling to subside. If it still seems off, talk to your injector.All the best!

Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.

It appears that you have a natural looking, nice result.  However if you are unhappy you have the option of having the filler dissolved.  It is best to wait two full weeks after injections for all swelling to resolve before proceeding if you choose to have the filler dissolved.

From your photos  your lips look lovely..I think your injector did a beautiful job. If you are really unhappy you should return to your injector. to discuss it.I am very experienced and think your lips look great.

I have seen a significant number of over injected lips over the years, many of which were almost unbelievable. However, your injector appears to have achieved a very reasonable result. Your upper lip was smaller than normal or aesthetic pre injection and now fits normal aesthetic proportions, being full but 2/3 the size of the lower lip. The filler also appears to have been placed in the vermillion and not above it where many injectors go wrong. Since use of hyaluronidase has to be done slowly and in stages to correct any perceived overfill, I would advise living with what you have a little longer before deciding to reverse the results.
