Chin surgery re-do? Genioplasty gone wrong.

Question

Im 3 months post genioplasty which was performed during jaw surgery. Although it was only 2,5-3 mm my chin looks bad (I never had a problem w my chin doctor convinced me we shall do it). Now it looks masculine, sticks out, doesn't match my face and worst - I have terrible mental is strain when speaking and eating :( pls help, what to do? full reversal? shaving bone? intra oral? what approach will be best? shall I go w my oral surgeon or someone else?

It is a dangerous decision performing at the same time orthognatic + osseious genioplasty, not reckless or contraindicated but carries the risk of falling into under or over correction, makes extremely difficult the calculations for the chin, or just surgeon's fatigue brings a poor technique.Notwithstanding, as short as only 3 mo postop there is a large amount of post-surgical swelling to go down, be patient. May you finally wish to revert or modify the chin it is perfectly possible; so ask your initial surgeon to perform this procedure, he has skills for this.

Hi annastine,Thanks for your question.  At three months after the procedure, there is still usually a lot of swelling and so having a chin that is too big is not necessarily unusual.  Would you be able to send us some photos so we can better have an idea of what the chin looks like? Thanks!
