I will be in the military in a year or so and I'm also involved in martial arts. Thus if my jaw ever gets broken (just in case), I was wondering if it would be worse with the titanium plate which I believe stabilizes the genioplasty so new bone forms. I do not want a chin implant because they are simply held by screws and sometimes misalign over years for people that are not even active fighters. Thus, do you think a genioplasty is a okay for someone like me or if I would be better off without?

Answer: Stability of the chin after a sliding chin osteotomy
I perform regularly all kinds of genioplasties, not only sliding genioplasties but also one, two and three-dimensional augmentation and/or reduction genioplasties, plus other custom designs; in other words, I know well what I am talking about.
