Hi there! I have been contemplating a lower facelift for over two years now as I have early jowling, loose skin under my chin and a little sagginess under my cheek area. I have narrowed my options down to two surgeons- 1 in Scotland and in London area. I am approaching age 35 with one child already. Should I go with my lift and if I get pregnant later will it affect my results? Will the weight gain/ loss afterwards cause skin laxity again? Many thanks
Answer: Pregnancy & weight gain/loss affecting facelift results Pregnancy, weight gain/loss, menopause, lifestyle etc are all facts which can cause changes in skin laxity. To ensure your facelift longevity is as long as possible you want to have had your children and be at a maintain weight. All The Best

Answer: The results may be affected A pregnancy and/or large amounts of weight gain and losses can affect the results of facelift procedures. If this is something foreseeable in the near future, it may advisable to wait having the procedure done until you are finished with the pregnancy.Hope this helps,Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey

Answer: Lower Facelift Pregnancy and weight changes (both gain and loss) can create changes in facial structure and skin laxity. Given your young age and your concerns, I would recommend PDO threads and fillers to the midface and lower thirds. This combination technique will provide a minor lift to reduce your jowls and enhance the appearance of your chin and jaw. With this treatment, results should last for about 1 year and bide you additional time before you’re ready for a full surgical procedure. Going forward, I would recommend you to complete multiple consultations with board-certified experts to discuss your aesthetic goals and create a tailored treatment plan.

Answer: Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, Fillers, Lasers, Peels, Injections Like Juvederm When Pregnant Although it is recommended that women do not get cosmetic procedures while pregnant almost all procedures have not been studied in clinical trials on pregnant women so we do not know if it is safe. If you do move forward with treatments, you do so at your own risk, however, I have had many women do injectables like Juvederm/Restylane/Belotero/Prollineum Versa/Radiesse and Botox/Dysport/Xeomin without any issues. Peels, lasers, and skin care should all be safe as they do not penetrate into the systemic system. If you choose to get a cosmetic treatment while pregnant you will do so at your own risk/chance. Most of my patients pursue skin care, peels, and facials and avoid most lasers and surgery excluding for Aerolase/Laser Genesis, Clear and Brilliant or Venus Viva Nanofractional RF, red light therapy, and injectables. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Timing of lower facelift and pregnancy It would be unusual for an almost 35 year old person to be a good candidate for a facelift, but an examination of the patient would be needed to ultimately determine this. If there is sagging, excess skin present in the lower face and neck, a facelift could be of benefit. This could be done before pregnancy or after.
