Can I have jaw Implants after corrective jaw surgery?

Question

I had corrective jaw surgery done 4 months ago and was wondering if I could have jaw implants added on. Would the jaw implants interfere with anything done already with corrective jaw surgery.

Loss of the jaw angle shape may occur after a sagittal split ramus mandibular advancement in some cases. Jaw angle implants can be help in creating more of a jaw angle shape/flare secondarily. The implants are put on top of or extend beyond the bottom of the bone which has been previously osteotomized. Other than scar and plates and screws which can make the dissection a bit more difficult, there is no problem with placing these implants.

Hi Jake7,Jaw implant surgery is possible with a little more difficulty on the surgeon's part, but it is definitely not contraindicated. Aside from implants, you may also consider permanent fillers or fat transfer as good alternatives.

It is possible to have the surgery, however there is another option.  Try a temporary filler such as Radiesse.  When injected into the angle, the result is a strong, angular jaw.

You can have implants placed after previous orthognathic surgery if needed.  The surgery may require custom implants and could be more difficult due to scarring in the area.
