I had jaw botox 3 hours ago and went for a body massage. No massaging on my head and face, just the back of my neck and body. I was laying on my forehead with no pressure on my lower face. Would this affect my botox to migrate?
Answer: Will Massage Affect Jaw Botox? Don’t Lie Down After Botox
Ideally, you shouldn’t lie down after Botox, mostly because you want to avoid swelling and bruising by increasing blood flow to the injection areas. However, Botox tends to settle into the muscle within minutes. It’s highly unlikely that the Botox would migrate hours later. It takes about two weeks before Botox in the masseter works and even longer to see slimming of the face as the masseter shrinks, but then the effects last for approximately 6 months. Please find a board-certified dermatologist to do your touch-ups regularly so you’ll have continuous benefits.

Answer: Massage on the day of Botox treatment Thanks for the question. We caution all patients who are treated with Botox to avoid a massage session for at least 24 hours after treatment, and to avoid any pressure on the treated area for at least one week. We particularly suggest not laying prone (face down) when facial treatments are done with Botox. In spite of that, you are unlikely to experience an adverse result. However, only time will tell for sure, and any adverse result should resolve within three months (and often within 2-3 weeks). I hope this helps.

Answer: Botox After Care I typically encourage my patients to avoid any pressure or massage to the area for at least 4-6 hours after a Botox injection. Having said that, it is likely you will not experience any complications. Your results should show in 1-2 weeks. If any complications do occur, you should schedule a follow up.

Answer: Possibly Typical advice for Botox is not to lay flat for 4 hours. There are some studies show more like 2 hours. You will have to see in time but in the future I wouldn’t get a massage the same day as Botox or at least 4 hours later to be safe.

Answer: Jaw Botox - face down during a massage session Hi nightingale111, As rule of thumb we really don't recline nor lie down nor lie down on our face unless it's four hours atter Botox. Hopefully, Botox did not migrate, especially since more was injected this time. All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
