This is my second time getting Botox injection to the forehead. I haven’t had any issue before but now post injection I have this obvious lump in the center of my forehead that is painful and very tender. I have been icing it but really worried that something is wrong. I have a follow up with injector in 2 weeks. I also sent a pic to which she replied it is just a bruise and to cont icing. I am so uncomfortable from the pain that it makes me think it’s more than just bruising. Any advise is appreciated.
Answer: Botox lump If you are concerned, you should be seen sooner than two weeksIf the photo you post is the day of or day after injection it is likely a small hematoma If you are several days out and it is tender and red you may have an infection, such as cellulitis or abscess, for which you will need treatmentIf my patient called or sent me a photo with this I would have them come in the same day for evaluation

Answer: Lump that is painful immediately after Botox is probably a type of temporary bruise Contusion, hermorrhage and brusie can refer to the same type of leaking of blood from a blood vessel in to the surrounding tissues causing a tender swelling. Usually bruising is minimal after Botox and is flat but some times, even in the best of hands, the tiny needles used can cause a hidden blood vessel to be ruptured causing a swelling of blood. Usually ice helps reduce further swelling in the first day but I have found that once I confirm with an examination that nothing else is causing the problem, that my recommending warm (not hot) compresses to may patients have helped with tender bruises. The compresses are done not more than a couple of minutes a few times per day. Before anyone would try this, for a lump this large, they should see their provider. If my patients are concerned about something, I don't tell them to come in right away so I can check them. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Answer: Tender spot after injection? Botox results Some bruising and/or tenderness can be typical after injections. However, it's difficult to tell from your pictures so I suggest speaking to your injector. Arnica can help with bruising. Hope this helps.
