Is the large swelling under my arm pits after gynecomastia surgery normal or is my compression vest making it worse?

You are right that your garment is probably contributing to your axillary swelling. But the swelling will go away with time and the garment is helping you get the best final result for your surgery. I would hang in there and let the swelling subside.Good luck.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. The compression of the vest is likely causing the buildup of fluid in the area of the axilla. There is also some significant bruising there, so I would contact your surgeon and be evaluated just to make sure everything is ok. Once cleared by your surgeon, he or she might instruct you to do some additional compression with an ACE wrap or something else in that area to improve the problem. Hi there-your compression vest is most likely contributing to the increased axillary swelling you are experiencing, which is common after this procedure. The lack of pressure in this area allows more accumulation of swelling. I would recommend keeping an eye on the swelling, continue wearing your compression vest, and notify your surgeon if you see an increase in swelling to your chest. Hang in there and best of luck!
