I’m looking to get my face/jaw more defined. I’m learning more towards chin lipo and possibly chin filler. Any other recommendations or suggestions. I just don’t want to get it done and there be no change

To a significant degree, the most appropriate treatment depends on the level of change you would like to achieve.

Liposuction works within the outer (superficial) layer of fat beneath the chin and can produce a visible improvement in contour. In your case, the mandibular development appears relatively good, which is always helpful for jawline definition. From the front view, there is already reasonably good jawline definition.

An anterior neck lift, by contrast, addresses both the superficial fat layer and the deeper anatomical structures. These include:
	•	Central (subplatysmal) fat
	•	The digastric muscles
	•	The lower portion of the submandibular glands

These deeper structures contribute to fullness, particularly when looking down or with moderate neck flexion. Because of this, an anterior neck lift can create a more substantial and structurally defined improvement compared to liposuction alone.

If you are seeking a modest refinement, liposuction may be sufficient. If, however, you are aiming for a more noticeable and sculpted correction — particularly in profile and during neck movement — then an anterior neck lift is likely to provide a more impactful result.

As a physician, I want to answer this clearly and reassuringly: a bladder sling is not automatically necessary for a 20% prolapse when someone is having a vaginal tightening procedure. The decision depends much more on symptoms and functional findings than on the percentage alone.

A mild prolapse (around 20%) is actually quite common, especially after childbirth or with age-related tissue changes. What matters most is whether you are experiencing stress urinary leakage — for example, urine loss with coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise — or other bladder support symptoms. If those are not present, placing a sling is often not recommended.

Vaginal tightening procedures — whether surgical repair or energy-based treatments — are designed to address tissue laxity and vaginal canal support, not specifically bladder neck support. While tightening may slightly improve support in some cases, it is not the same as an anti-incontinence procedure.

In clinical decision-making, a sling is usually considered when there is:

Clear stress urinary incontinence

Demonstrated bladder neck weakness

Moderate to severe anterior prolapse

Objective testing that shows leakage risk

Adding a sling when it isn’t truly indicated can expose someone to unnecessary risks, such as difficulty urinating, urgency symptoms, or mesh-related complications (when mesh is used). Because of that, most specialists prefer to be selective and symptom-guided rather than placing one “just in case.”

It is important, however, to understand that fullness in this area is often influenced not only by fat but also by underlying facial bone structure. Individuals with a naturally well-defined jawline typically have a larger or more projecting mandible, which provides stronger support for the overlying soft tissues. Because we generally cannot change the skeletal framework, treatment focuses on modifying the soft tissue envelope. This can produce meaningful improvement, but it does not alter the underlying anatomy.
Outcomes from chin and neck liposuction are highly provider-dependent. Although it may appear to be a simple procedure, achieving a smooth, natural contour requires considerable experience and judgment.
When researching surgeons: • Look for someone who performs this procedure frequently • Review an extensive portfolio of before-and-after photographs • Ask to see patients with facial features similar to your own • Bring standardized photos of yourself to help with comparison • Consider in-person consultations and meet with more than one provider
