I have a scar from a transplant that didn't even work. I'm interested in having camouflage using micro- pigmentation. If it's successful I may have the remainder of my scalp done too.

Answer: Scalp Micropigmentation SMP can be used help disguise the scar but it does not make the scar invisible.
Natural affects such as sunlight, high exposure over time including chlorinated swimming pools. But also the quality of the pigment used and how it is applied to your skin. As well as your natural skin characteristics including if the pigment is being placed in to scar tissue.
It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen. Concealers can be applied sooner but check with your doctor.
