I’m new to skin care and would like to know if I have dry skin and how can I get rid of those spots circled in blue for you? Also what facial moisturizer would you recommend and would exfoliating get rid of those to marks or would I have to get it lasered? Thank you!
Answer: Recommend doing LaseMD to help even out skin texture along with a chemical peel and resufx to even out scar texture Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Healthy skin From your photo there are a few tools to refresh the skin that you can consider to address your concerns. Microneedling treatments can improve the texture issues. HydraFacial can bring a needed moisturizing boost to the skin. We also recommend using medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day.

Answer: Dry skin/scar treatments Hello, thank you for your question. Judging by the photo provided it looks like you may have dehydrated skin along with dead skin buildup. There are multiple ways to treat a dry/dull complexion: 1. First and foremost, starting and sticking to a daily skin care regimen that includes products for regular physical exfoliation or chemical exfoliation, along with moisturizer2. Monthly facials3. Quarterly chemical peelsAs for the marks circled in blue, they seem more like aged scars, which can take a bit more effort to treat. They could be improved with chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microneedling, etc. I would recommend consulting with a skilled practitioner with a background in all the aforementioned treatments in order to select what course of action would best suit your budget and concerns. Best of luck!

Answer: Skin care likely will not help The areas you circled are atrophic scars. Unfortunately, skincare will not completely eliminate them. Creams with retinoids (specifically tazarotene) have some data to suggest they can improve the appearance of scars, but I would not rely on them too much. There is a range of cosmetic options available for improving atrophic scars, and they are most effective when used in combination (TCA cross peel, microneedling, and lasers). Please let us know if we can be of assistance.
