Rhinoplasty to look just like someone else's nose? You can have a nose that is similar to someone else's nose would not an exact copy. Make sure you have realistic expectations before having your rhinoplasty.
While changes can be made to the appearance of the nose with surgery (rhinoplasty), everyone's nose is different, so there may be some limitation to what can be altered in one person's nose versus another. It is usually not possible to give someone the exact replica of someone else's nose, but certain characteristics of someone else's nose may be used to plan changes for another person's nose. A consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon would be helpful to find out what possibly could be altered with your nose.
It is best to perform computer imaging on your existing nose and facial features. You cannot get someone else's nose. Rhinoplasty surgeons have to sculpt the pre-existing bone and cartilage underneath the skin over your nose. It is very important to have realistic expectations going into this type of a procedure.
While it is possible to cosmetically improve the appearanceof your nose with an artistically performed rhinoplasty, if you fully expect toget a nose exactly like someone else, you will be disappointed in your finalresult. If any one promises that you can achieve that exact result, I would bewary.Keep in mind that following the advice from asurgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do basedon a limited two dimensional photo without examining you, physically feelingthe tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, anddiscussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in yourbest interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by theAmerican Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Societyfor Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon (ENT) that youtrust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with thatsurgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
Looking at photos of other noses is an integral part of your decision to undergo a rhinoplasty. It will help you form specific thoughts on what you do and don't like about the shape of your nose. That being said, your nose will need to to fit with the rest of your face and this is why I recommend computer imaging so you can be on the same page with your surgeon with what they think is possible with your current nose. Meet with a few surgeons and see what advise they can give youBest of luck
Photos are very confusing. Is this you or not? Whether a nose can be made to look like someone elses nose requires you to show us your nose and the person's nose you are striving for.

Dear Justine57410, It is possible to get similar characteristics of another persons nose that the patient finds desirable and these are helpful to the surgeon in understanding what a patient finds attractive in another persons nose. With that said, there may be limitations based on the patients facial anatomy. Personally, I use digital imaging and with the patients input I am able to image the patients nose showing the proposed results taking into consideration the patient's ethnicity, skin thickness, and other nasal anatomy. Once these results are agreed upon as the desired result then I will go into further detail with the patient of the surgical techniques that will be used to attain the result. During consultation I will also show patients many noses similar to theirs and then they can see another patients before and afters to see if those are aesthetically pleasing to the patient. It is always important to remember that each patient's surgery is artistically designed to make the patient happy and to help balance their own facial aesthetics. A natural looking nose with good function is a successful rhinoplasty. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
Although it is not possible to make a nose exactly like somebody else's it us helpful to show examples to better understand a patient's goals and discuss the nasal characteristics that you find pleasing. Improved appearance is reasonable, duplication is not.
Dear mynameislizzy, Nostril asymmetry can occur both in width and height and there can also be width asymmetries in nostrils. Generally, soft tissue reductions of the nostril base can fix vertical and horizontal discrepancies. Wedge resections can thin the apparent width of a nostril and...
While we have been employing this concept in newborns to improve the contour of their ears, Once one is older than a few weeks, it does not work anymore because the cartilage gets firmer.
Yes, it is possible to make your nostrils bigger in some cases depending on the cause of your problem, the shape of your nostrils, the strength of your cartilages, and your goals. Please forward pictures including the base of your nose.
