I recently got my first consultation and it went great until I saw the vectra results. I did the consult following a referral; however, on looking at the gallery many of the results seem to have a wide distance. I did research and found placement, profile, and shape have a lot to do with this. I know the intermammary distance is something that can't be changed, but mine isn't far (2cm) and images show elsewise. Thoughts if I should see a different doctor or change implant?
Answer: Intermammary distance Hi! Thanks for your question! Like you mentioned intermammary distance is something difficult to change as it may distort the normal attachments of the breast and create symmastia (uni-boob). The problem with trying to fix the intermammary distance with implant placement more medially, is then your nipple position may seem more lateral. In regards to the profile, I recommend a moderate profile implant, therefore is a wider implant that can fill the entire pocket better. I would choose a larger volume implant (probably in the 300cc range to give you a fuller look and more cleavage. Hope this helped!

Answer: Intermammary distance, implant placement, and shape/profile Hello, Thank you for the question. Based on your photos, you appear to have wide intermammary distance and subglandular (above the muscle) breast augmentation may be a better options for you rather than submuscular (below muscle) in order to achieve full cleavage in the middle. Implant size discussion and implant selection is one of the most important steps during your consultation with plastic surgeon. The decision-making process depends on patient’s desires, as well as breast and soft tissue dimensions. Implant projection varies between low, moderate, moderate plus and high profile within the three major breast implant companies (Sientra, Allergan and Mentor). Patients who desire a more natural look typically go for moderate/moderate plus profile, while patients who desires a more full and augmented look with typically prefer moderate plus/high profile breast implants. I would encourage you to seek a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast Surgeries to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Cleavage is created by clothes Can't build cleavage, but the good news is, regardless of placement and shape/profile, you will have more volume or size. This fact will make it easier to create cleavage in clothes. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author. RealSelf Distinguished Hall of Fame Inductee. Philadelphia, Pa., USA

Answer: Breast implants Your breasts are wide set and your nipples wide apart as well. It will be difficult to get a narrow gap between the implants in your case. Implants tend to center themselves under the loosest skin which in where the nipples are.

Answer: BA candidate Dear travelingmidwestgirl, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.
