Chin Implant - No wings. What result?

I see many doctors on social media recommending mostly the anatomical or extended anatomical chin implant. My doctor has recommended a chin implant without wings. Specially, Hanson Style 5 (concave back button chin) In general, what kind of look will an implant without the tapered sides give? Will it help create more of a tapered look (versus a wider look)?

They are appealing: quick surgery, cheap, outpatient management and veeery easy technical for the surgeon, even the less skilled and experienced can do them, however they have very bad downsides, in practical terms they have short duration due to pain, displacement, visibility, mobility, weird gestures, failing to achive goals, etc

During my fellowship in facial plastic surgery, we nearly always used extended implants. Now, I nearly exclusively utilize anatomical chin plants that do not have wings, and this tends to lead to a more feminine appearance to the lower one third of the face. Thank you for this question. The most anatomic implant for the chin would be a custom silicone implant. The purpose of a custom implant is to personalize the result to your specifications. There is a well-known plastic surgeon in Indianapolis who performs custom implants.

Much more information is required, such as a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles to make sure you're a candidate for a chin implant. Once you have posted pictures, then you can talk about what size, and what style of chin implant since there are many variables. The style that you were referring to was popular 30 or 40 years ago, and we have removed many of them in our practice because they're simply don't give sidewall definition to the recessive chin profile. In our practice, we place chin implants under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, which takes about 30 minutes. No general anesthesia is required.
