I see many doctors on social media recommending mostly the anatomical or extended anatomical chin implant. My doctor has recommended a chin implant without wings. Specially, Hanson Style 5 (concave back button chin) In general, what kind of look will an implant without the tapered sides give? Will it help create more of a tapered look (versus a wider look)?

Answer: Chin implant, no wings Much more information is required, such as a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles to make sure you're a candidate for a chin implant. Once you have posted pictures, then you can talk about what size, and what style of chin implant since there are many variables. The style that you were referring to was popular 30 or 40 years ago, and we have removed many of them in our practice because they're simply don't give sidewall definition to the recessive chin profile. In our practice, we place chin implants under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, which takes about 30 minutes. No general anesthesia is required.
