Does a 4mm chin implant really give 4mm projection?

A chin implant will sometimes compress the underlying bone and create a hollow into the bone. Also, the skin is going to stretch. A 4mm implant may not give a 4mm projection. Most surgeons use sizers at the time of surgery to assess what looks appropriate.

If you're only looking to achieve 4 mm of chin projection, you may wish to consider a permanent non-surgical chin augmentation procedure with microdroplet Silikon-1000. When we perform chin implant surgery, we typically utilize an implant with around 9 to 12 mm of projection. You are correct that there is around 2 mm of bone resorption around the implants, however, the body makes a capsule that is around 2 mm thick to keep the implant in place. In that regard, when we have removed chin implants, the capsule is left behind and it usually fills the gap such that there is no subsequent change in chin appearance when they are removed.
