Earlobe repair is a common procedure in our plastic surgery office. I employ a technique that involves removing the excess scar tissue and reapproximating the tissue planes in multiple layers to recontour the earlobe after gauges, torn earlobes, or stretched out earlobes. Sometimes, the same procedure is used to restore contour to a pixie ear after facelift surgery or facial surgery. Gauge correction is a popular treatment. Insurance typically does not cover the procedure in California, but it all depends on your insurance policy. Costs are typically between six hundred dollars and one thousand dollars depending on the complexity of the repair. Pixie ear repair involves correction of the facelift flap and is a more complex procedure that requires anesthesia. Aftercare for earlobe repair involves proper wound care, Plato’s Scar Serum at least twice daily, with repiercing of the earlobe if requested, in 6 weeks. It is best to have a plastic surgeon perform the procedure and help with scars in the post-procedure period. Plato’s Scar Serum, wound care, and Neosporin are used. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian
Earlobe repair is a very common procedure. Frequently, we have patients who will have the procedure done the same day as the consultation. Typically, the cost is between $450-850 per earlobe, depending on the severity and the length of the procedure. You may be able to find a doctor who will do this under insurance but i am not aware of any.The length of time the ears have been gauged should have no effect on the procedure. As long as the tissue is no longer irritated or inflamed, there is no reason not to give it a try. Gauged ears are sometimes more difficult than some other earlobe repairs since the tissue is so over stretched, but we are still able to create a natural looking earlobe. You can get your ear re pierced about 6 weeks after and should be included in the pricing. Shop around in your area and see if you can find a plastic surgeon in your budget. Insurance typically wont cover this.
Thank you for your question. My fee is approximately $1250.00 for repair of both earlobes at the same time. This also includes re-piercing at a later appointment - if you would like. I am able to schedule your consultation/surgical appointment for the same day - in order to facilitate you only having to make only one initial trip. It is a relatively quick in-office procedure with local anesthetic, followed by little or no downtime.
When earlobes have been stretched over time with ring jewelry, sometimes referred to as ‘gauged’ ears, this produces a permanent hole with floppy skin around it when the gauge ring is removed. When that person tires of this we recommend surgical repair. Usually performed in the office under local anesthesia costs in our Indiana office average $990 for both earlobes. Healing is a gradual process as the new earlobe gradually softens and looks normal again.
Thank you for sharing your question. Costs will vary by geography, surgeon experience, and degree of deformity, but in the southeast costs will range between 500 and 1000 dollars. Be sure to see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to maximize your results
The cost of stretched earlobe repair will vary from office to office and geographic location. Here in Seattle, we charge between $600-$1200/earlobe depending on how complex the repair will be. This is a wide range, but stretched earlobes come in all sizes. Obviously, a small defect that is only a few millimeters in diameter will be quicker to repair than a stretched/gauged earlobe that is over an inch in diameter. Just as important, if not more important than the cost, is how experienced your plastic surgeon is when it comes to repairing stretched earlobes. It is important that the repaired earlobe has a nice shape. Pointy or elongated earlobes resulting from stretched earlobe repair need to be avoided.Call around and find a board certified (ASPS) plastic surgeon near you to be evaluated.
Thank you for your inquiry. The price for earlobe repair will vary according to the type of surgery as well as location and surgeon qualifications & experience.Price will vary between $1500 - $2000 in Montreal. Please be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon for best results.
Thank you for the question. The repair of the stretched ear lobe is a great procedure that can restore the ear lobe to a “normal” appearance". Care must be taken during this procedure to avoid reducing the size of the air and/or creating a notch/ depressed appearance in the area of the rim of the ear lobe. It is usually done under local anesthesia with very high patient satisfaction rates. Re piercing can be done, preferably in a spot away from the scar line, a few months down the line. Costs vary from practice to practice (500-$1000 in our practice).I hope this, and the attached link, helps.
Seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon as pricing varies from surgeon to surgeon. Price can range from $400-$800. You will be able to re-pierce your ears 2 months after you have the earlobe repair done. Good luck, Dean Vistnes.Vistnes Plastic SurgerySan Francisco Bay Area#realself #drdeanvistnes #earloberepair
