Answer: Scars associated with ingrown hairs - Melapads I would begin with application of Melapads twice daily to reduce the ingrown hair folliculitis and then apply Melarase to reduce discoloration. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian@kareplasticsurgery on Instagram

Answer: What is the best cream to remove scars caused by an ingrown hair? Thank you for your inquiry. When it comes to scars massage and time are your best treatments. Scars will continue to fade and soften for about a year. Scar creams have never been shown to be significantly effective in managing scars. Vitamin E is also a myth. The reason Vitamin E seems to work is that it is oily and people rub it in thereby, massaging the scar. It's the effect of the massage that is smoothing the scar not the Vitamin E. I recommend to my patients who have raised scars to massage them with regular moisturizing lotion twice a day. For those patients with discolored scars, I have them wait several months to see how the scars fade on their own. If the scar remains hyperpigmented after several months then I recommend IPL laser treatments. I have found that certain lasers are effective in fading the color but are less effective in managing scars that are thick and raised.I hope this helps.
