Thanks for the question. After 6 weeks your surgery area is totally healed and yes you can do gym and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.
This is an important question to ask your surgeon. For my patients, many of whom are body builders, they are able to return to weight lifting 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, but I make sure they do not over do it and increase gradually. Good luck!
In my practice as soon as the wounds are healed and swelling is substantially gone patients are permitted to return to full athletic activity. The magnitude of the gynecomastia will influence the return to vigorous physical activity.
Thank you for your important question Sumeet,As with any #PlasticSurgery procedures, including #gynecomastia surgery, there is a need for #recovery and that includessome time off the gym and from physical activity. The best answer I can give you is to askyour #PlasticSurgeon for his/her protocol. Mostof us #PlasticSurgeons have established post-op guidelines for every procedurewe perform. In my practice in #Toronto, Canada, when performing gynecomastia surgery, I askfor no cardiovascular activity at the gym for a minimum of 4 weeks and noweight lifting for 6 weeksThis protocol minimizes the chances ofbleeding or fluid accumulation (seroma) post-operatively (seromas requirefrequent aspirations and occasionally another operation). It also allows the tissues to heal back over the pectoral muscle.Staying out of the gym for 4-6 weeks alsoallows for better healing and therefore, better scar.Hope this helps!Dr Marc DuPere, Toronto board-certifiedPlastic Surgeon
It should be possible to resume your regular bodybuilding after male breast reduction surgery, but always check with your own plastic surgeon to ensure you're healing normally first. I recommend my patients gradually resume exercises around 4 weeks, then most are doing all exercises and sports by around 6 weeks postop.
You can go to the gym a few weeks after gynecomastia surgery, for body building.Make sure to have the surgery by an experienced and skillful gynecomastia surgeon.See the before and after pictures in his website, and talk to previous patients.Be careful who you chose,You want proof, not talk.
After gynecomastia surgery - whatever approach is used - the tissue need to stick back down to the chest wall. If patients are too active early post surgery, this adherence does not happen and you can have a fluid build up call a seroma which may need to be drained and push back recovery even further. You want to avoid any exercise early post op to minimize bleeding, but then light cardio (walking uphill on a treadmill) is usually okay at 2 weeks. Light upper body exercise at 4 weeks with transition to full lifting at 6 weeks is a common approach.
Hi Sumeet,The short answer to your question is yes. However, with gynecomastia surgery, as with any other surgery, you will go through a period of swelling. In my practice I typically have patients refrain from exercise for 4 to 6 weeks. I have a specific protocol that I have developed so my patients can reintroduce exercise in a tiered fashion in order to minimize swelling and injury. This has been successful for me and my patients, but every plastic surgeon will have their own specific regimen. Hope that helps,Dr. Dadvand
Hello Sumeet6199, thanks for your question. Depending on your needs for surgery either liposuction, direct excision or both you can usually start working out approximately 4-6 weeks after surgery. Your surgeon will be the one to evaluate your healing and advise when it is safe to resume working out. Most patients are extremely happy with the results after gynecomastia surgery and recover very well getting back to their workout routines once healed. I would consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to evaluate your needs and discuss the surgery, risks, recovery and expected outcomes. Best of luck. Regards, Dr. Joseph Eby.
The majority of swelling should be gone in 2-3 weeks. Extreme swelling, especially if it is just on one side, could be a sign of a hematoma. Please alert your surgeon of this so you can be checked out as soon as possible.
The sensory nerves to the nipple are very sensitive especially to stretching caused by the implant which I believe is the most common cause for numbness rather than being cut. Fortunately as the tissues soften, the sensation often returns with in the first year. If your nipples can become erect...
Thank you for your question and for the pictures you sent us. It is too early to fully criticize the results, yet, it looks like you not only had excess of glandular tissue but also an excess of skin (there is a variation in severity of gynecomastia). It would also help to see your BEFORE...
