Hello DR, its been 1 week since my surgery (strip method) 4000 grafts one sitting and i have been told not to do any strenuous activities till 3 weeks, but i have been doing pranayam every morning which involves heavy rapid breathing. also i would like to play and practice my trumpet now which involves the same type of breathing, as i dont have much to do. please advice for the trumpet. Are instruments that intense for your grafts? ty.
Answer: Playing the trumpet after an FUT hair transplant Doing the fast breathing exercise and playing the trumpet should not be a problem at this stage. I would advise caution and to take it slow. If you feel any pain during these activities, then it is a sign that you are doing too much. After 1 week it is unlikely that you will experience any bleeding either from the incision or from the grafts, but you are far from being fully healed, so take it easy for a few days. It pays off in the end.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Use your judgement Use your judgement. If you think you are straining yourself, then stop! As always, ask your doctor as he/she may have a difference of opinion.I have a hard time believing blowing a trumpet will make your grafts pop out. But it is a great mental image that you may see on a Bugs Bunny cartoon on Elmer Fudd.

Answer: Wait just a little bit longer! I appreciate patients who are active and like to enjoy life, whether that is through exercise or music. However, most hair restoration surgeons would strongly advise against doing strenuous exercise or playing the trumpet for now. Those grafts are important! In short, those types of activities not only put your recipient area at risk, but also could affect your donor scar. Most hair surgeons would advise that you wait for a couple more weeks. In the meantime, mild exercises, such as walking, are great ways to pass the time.

Answer: Exercise after a strip procedure My standard answer is that any exercise within 2 days after the procedure is ok except heavy lifting of over 50 pounds (20 kilograms). That means you can jog, run a marathon, play tennis or work out at the gym regularly for as long as you want. Sweating is not a problem if you work up a nice sweat.
