I was offered this procedure by a plastic surgeon but haven't seen any documentation describing all three agents together showing success. Thank you for your time.
Answer: PRP plus Acell To my knowledge there are no controlled studies demonstrating clear results when PRP is combined with Acell and fat cells.Acell is a foreign body and as such can cause antigenic or allergic reactions.

Answer: PRP + Acell + Adipose Tissue There is no uniformity when it comes to PRP therapy and no clinical trials standardizing PRP with Acell and Adipose tissue. Each doctor that performs this procedure uses the method, additives, and components of their choosing. What ultimately goes into the plasma and gets reinjected into the scalp is at the full discretion of the doctor. Because PRP therapy is a relatively new treatment and each treatment varies WIDELY from office to office, there isn't a lot of research out about the different combinations. What we do know, is that PRP is effective at promoting hair follicle strength, reversing recent hair loss, warding off hair loss, promoting healing in scar tissue, and promoting healing in hair transplants. Different components work differently on different patients. Most doctors use what components they find works best on their patients. Ultimately, the PRP treatment itself is the bulk of the efficacy of the treatment. The additives are just added benefit. Please keep in mind that not all PRP treatments are created equal, just as the components vary, so does the method of extracting, reinjecting, and the quality of the centrifuge. Make sure to do your research before committing to a series of treatments. In the web reference I have a video showing PRP + Acell + Adipose tissue via liposuction procedure from the abdomen.

Answer: Is there literature supporting combination therapy with PRP to be effective? shanna4524,Thanks for the question. Dr. Rubina Alves and Dr. Ramon Grimalt, published their findings in the June issue of the journal, Dermatologic Surgery. They conducted a double-blind placebo controlled study titled"Platelet-Rich Plasma in Combination with 5% Minoxidil and 1 mg Oral Finasteride for the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia: A Randomized Placebo -Controlled, Double-Blind, Half-Head Study."While combining platelet-rich plasma therapy with either minoxidil or finasteride improved hair regrowth, one clearly stood out as superior. The researchers said platelet-rich plasma with minoxidil showed greater improvement than PRP with finasteride at six months.

Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: Acell, prp and progesterone I don't find Acell to be that effective. You would need a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to determine cause and the best treatment options. I have great success in my practice using injectable progesterone and prp to the scalp. I suggest seeing a dermatologist with expertise in hair loss. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: There is no scienctific evidence in the literature for Acell or adipose tissue for hair growth at this time Scientific literature is sorely lacking for these newer therapies aimed at hair growth. There is growing evidence for PRP but once you start combining therapies, any "scientific study" would become more and exponentially more difficult to provide reliable results. These are not "drugs" so therefore they do not go through FDA approval as such and therefore there is little financial backing to support clinical trials. It's exciting to hear about new possible therapies for hair growth but be leery of anecdotal evidence (case reports or testimonials) because they are very unscientific.
