Whenever a removal procedure is done to any location, there is a risk of scar formation, The question becomes whether the benefit of the procedure to remove a very visible, but perfectly flat nevus (mole) can yield greater aesthetic improvement in appearance than the dark mole itself. So check out Scalpel Sculpting, a procedure that I have been using successfully for this purpose, including for flat (non-elevated) moles on the nose. In fact, one of the befores and afters I show is a patient who had three of these removed from his nose by Scalpel Sculpting in the same session. Scalpel Sculpting also allows for the removed spot to be sent to a lab to ensure that the mole is entirely benign. True moles should NOT simply be burned, cauterized, or lasered off without the surface specimen being sent to the lab for confirmation of its benign nature. And surgical removal with suturing runs the risk of spread scar and stitch tracks, expecially in areas such to a great deal of tension. Hope this helps, and best of luck.
