Is it okay for to get implants when I have very small breasts/not a lot of extra tissue to work with.

Small breasts with little extra tissue is not a contraindication to breast augmentation surgery and in fact is one of the most common reasons women seek breast augmentation.  Utilizing proper measurements, a procedure can be designed to give you a very natural result.  I think your description of yourself is the typical patient requesting a breast augmentation.  I would recommend you see a board-certified plastic surgeon who has an expertise in breast augmentation to discuss your concerns. 

I would not focus on cup size. Choosing an implant based on an aesthetic goal that exceeds your anatomic capacity may lead to complications and possibly revision. The size and type of implant selected will be very important to achieving optimal, natural results. Hi,A breast augmentation should look natural and beautiful.  Big for the sake of big,  is not the same as beautiful.  It is hard to give you a complete answer without seeing you.  However, I think it is fair to say that you should expect a beautiful breast augmentation that looks natural.   There are several decisions about implants and where to place the implant that can help make your result look natural.  I usually go over that information with patients in a lot of detail and help them to decide what the best choice is for them. I am proud to say that I have never needed to change or revise the implants of any of my patients, as we do spend a lot of time coming up with the perfect implant for them ahead of time.Although you may not need this, I do like to use some fat to disguise the implant for patients.  It is something I have done hundreds of times for my reconstructive patients.  It is a newer technique that not many plastic surgeons are comfortable with yet, but I have been very pleased with the results.  Most cosmetic patients do not need this, but for those that are thin or have tight tissue it is a great way to further disguise the implant, giving a nicer looking result.I hope that helps. Regards, Rodger Shortt, Oakville Plastic Surgeon.

How "natural" or "fake" a breast augmentation looks is an interplay between the breast and the implant. The larger the implant and the tighter the breast tissue, the more "fake" the result will look. Conversely, if the breast tissues are looser (such as someone who has breast fed her children), even a larger implant will look more "natural."For women who have tighter breasts to begin with and who want a more "natural" look we typically recommend choosing a smaller implant or a teardrop shaped implant rather than a round device.Please explore all options with your surgeon.

Patients with limited native breast tissue are candidates for augmentation. However, there are limits to what can be accomplished. Implant choice should not exceed the BWD as this is likely to lead to lateral show and the dreaded "fake" look. Conservative sizing is also best as there is a limit to what the soft tissue envelope can accommodate.With regards to your specific question, a C cup might be slightly ambitious (difficult to say for certain without photos or measures). The best advice to is not to focus on a cup size but rather the look you hope to achieve.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Thanks for your questions. It easy to get a natural shape related to your breast diameter and thorax diameter. You need to have a good discussion with your surgeon and explain exactly what is good proportional breast for you. Hello and thanks for the question. A breast augmentation in a patient with minimal breast tissue may still appear quite natural provided that the implants are placed under the muscle and that the implants selected are not too large in relation to your breast base width. Good luck

You would have to be seen in person to determine what might be appropriate for you. This would depend upon a lot of factors determined after an exam.

The paradox with breast augmentation is that the thinner and smaller patients often are the most motivated to have augmentation but are the least appropriate for larger sizes. The most natural-looking breasts augmentation are achieved by hiding the implants behind natural breast tissue with a higher percentage of breast comprised of natural tissue. With a small amount of breast tissue, you should use as small volume and as low a profile style as possible that fits your breast dimensions. The larger you go, the more unnatural you will look.A cup or cup and a half size increase might be more reasonable.
