Lumps on forehead still 38 hours after Botox. What should I do? (photos)

I can tell you that this is very uncommon. I saw a case about 6 months ago, I concluded it was an immunological reaction because the Botox effect only last in this case for about one month, it would be interesting to hear from your evolution.

I appreciate your concern. It is not typical at all to have this kind of swelling this long after Botox injections. While some swelling is common, it usually dissipates within 24 hours. I recommend scheduling a follow-up with your injector for an in-person assessment. And make sure you are always working with a board-certified dermatologist who is also an expert Botox injector in the future, to avoid potential issues.

Prominent lumps don't normally form after Botox and the typical swelling from the mostly saline filled lumps resorb in a few hours. If multiple sites occur, it is doubtful that they would all be written off as hematomas (blood collections). If there is no severe itching or pain, usually allergy and infection are ruled out. this isnt normal but ive seen it twice, is often related to inflammation and will improve in time with RF treatments or warm compresses.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Swelling lasting this long after injection of Botox is not common.  I encourage you to return to your injector for an evaluation.  Be sure that FDA approved Botox was used.

Hello. Thank you for your question. You may have hematomas at the injection site. Is it painful? If the bumps do not go down, I would go back to your injector and have it evaluated.

The bumps at injection sites typically go down within a few hours at most. This is not normal. I'd recommend you follow up with your injector for an in person evaluation. Best of luck. 

Great question thank you!  Most of the time the small lumps at the injection site resolve within 15-30 minutes.  I have not seen lumps after injection remain for nearly 40 hours.  I would return to the injector to discuss this with him or her and have them evaluate you for any inflammation or infection.  Also, it is very typical for the Botox to take 10-14 days to completely take effect so it is very common for patients to still be able to move their forehead at 40 hours post injection.  Thanks again for the question.  Best wishes, Dr. Lindsay J Sturm

You should go back to the person who injected you . You should not have bumps 38 hours after Botox injection
