I typically have my patients stop all supplements 10-14 days prior to surgery with the exception of vit C and a simple multi-vitamin with or without iron. Vit E can worsen bruising or bleeding so better to be safe than sorry.
I typically advise my patients to stop all high dose multivitamins and herbal supplements 2 weeks before surgery. Certain vitamins and over the counter herbal medications contain chemicals that can thin the blood and predispose you to bleeding.
I would personally not be concerned if my patient took supplemental iron including vitamin E prior to elective surgery.supplemental iron will not increase your red blood cell count unless you have iron insufficiency.I suggest you talk to your plastic surgeon to see what he or she thinks since each one of us will have a different opinion.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
