I advise my patients to keep an antibiotic ointment on scars until the incision is completely closed. Typically that is around 10-14 days post operatively. Once the scar is closed, you can use your usual moisturizer or eye cream .

Here's another perspective from a dermatologic surgeon. I have my blepharoplasty patients apply ointment for just ten days. Vaseline is a very occlusive moisturizer and may give acne with prolonged use. After ten days is when I tend to start seeing problems with milia or acne from overuse of the ointment. After ten days is a good time to switch to a gentle eye cream or product like scar recovery gel by SkinMedica (which is even safe to put on the day after suture removal).
