Will The healing process start over. Or did I screw myself. I had surgery 9 days ago. should I get my lowers redone or drained.i promised God I won't but am I too late
Answer: Try the patch or gum. You did not screw yourself any more than than the harm caused by smoking. It just makes it a little harder to heal but for eyelid surgery, generally you will still heal. For facelift, long term smoking does cause small blood vessel disease which will cause necrosis of the longer flaps seen for facelifting. It is improbable that the swelling was caused by your smoking. Try not to smoke for the next 40 years, it will help you avoid a lot of bad things as you get older.

Answer: Healing after blepharoplasty Thanks for your question. First of all, smoking is a risk factor for poor healing. With that said, you are very early in the post-operative healing period, and your photo appears appropriate for being only nine days out. Swelling will follow gravity and typically migrates down the cheeks. Follow up with your doctors post operative instructions. You should do great.

Answer: Smoking did not ruin your results so don't beat yourself over this. Your swelling on your lower lids are not from smoking. Try to abstain as much as you can and follow your surgeon's instructions for the best outcome possible and quit worrying about this.

Answer: Smoking after Surgery Smoking is an unfortunate habit and I certainly do my best to have my patients stop smoking, or at least smoke as little as possible in the time period around their operation. Smoking does in some ways slow the healing process and is just not great for you, as I'm sure you realize. That being said, your photos show expected post-operative swelling. You must be more patient! It takes 6 months to 1 year for any facial plastic surgical procedure to heal fully. Wait at least 6 weeks before you decide if there are any changes in your lower eyelids you are still unhappy about -- and 6 months minimum before you would even consider revising them. Please discuss this with your surgeon. Best of luck in your healing, as you appear to be doing just fine!

Answer: Smoking after surgery Habits are hard to break. Every cigarette you smoke does make it more difficult for the body to heal after surgery. That being said, looking at your photos, it appears as though you have some normal swelling which can sometimes be seen after eye lid surgery. If you have any concerns I recommend making an appointment to see your surgery. Best of luck and congratulations on your surgery!~Dr. Sieber
