None of my patients with eczema have had infection or sepsis. I do not believe there is any increased risk.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
I have not seen much data to associate eczema and breast implants with a higher risk for infection. However, it is critical that the specialist plastic surgeon you choose does everything possible to minimise the risk of infection before, during and after your surgery since implants are a foreign body that can introduce bacteria into the body if not handled properly. By selecting a credentialed plastic surgeon experienced in all types of breast procedures, you can rest assured your risk of complications with be relatively small. However, if you are still concerned, you can always check with your general practitioner or dermatologist to find out if there are any additional steps you can take to care for your eczema before and after your surgery. Best wishes for a safe procedure!
