Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy post-op?

Question

Does hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) help speed up recovery after transplant? I have seen more and more clinics, both in Turkey and the US starting to include HBOT with their surgery, but I can't find anything showing that one or two sessions will speed up recovery (the one study showed 7-10 sessions, which isn't realistic to most people because of the cost and convenience).

Hyperbaric chambers have been used by some hair transplant surgeons as a means to increase hair growth and healing. However, it has never been proven to work for these purposes. If done correctly and if all protocols are followed during the hair transplant surgery, the hairs should grow very well without the need for the extra time and expense involved with the use of hyperbaric chambers. The main indications for a hyperbaric chamber is for the healing of chronic wounds, and to limit the extent of wounds. There are also some contra-indications to hyperbaric chambers, so a discussion with your medical provider is important before considering these treatments.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) will definitely help speeding up the wound healing. However, please keep in mind that HBOT also has its own complications and need a specialist to take care of you before, during and after the HBOT. In my opinion, HBOT has benefits more than risk in patients with non-healing ulcers on their extremities because that is a life-threatening condition. Even without the HBOT, most hair transplant wound heals properly.

Hello and thank you for your question.  I have heard of people using Hyperbaric oxygen therapy but I have no knowledge of the scientific findings as to it efficacy.
