Can microneedling be as effective as CO2 laser?

Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. These are very different modalities used for facial rejuvenation. In general. CO2 laser is much more aggressive, requires longer downtime, and in my opinion, has a superior result to micro needling.

Hi, thank you for your question! Mirconeedling will not be as effective as the CO2 laser. The CO2 laser will reach a deeper level of the skin that the microneedling will not. Microneedling will be beneficial over a certain amount of treatments. Microneedling may take up to 6-8 treatments to get results such as Co2 laser on fine lines and discoloration but will not be as beneficial with tightening of the skin.
