I'm having the Deka dot ablative fractional laser done. I'm wanting to know if truly tightens the skin. I'm having my full face done. Is this the best laser or do you recommend another one for wrinkles and skin tightening. I'm 47 years old.
Answer: LaseMD to reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Laser Resurfacing Laser resurfacing, regardless of the laser, is only as good as the doctor performing the procedure. I've worked with many types of CO2 lasers and know what endpoints to watch for. However, if I had to pick a CO2 laser to work with, I would pick the Lumenis "Encore". It's been around for a while, but is still the best one out there. You might ask your doctor how much experience in years he/she has had. Because the result is more dependent on the doctor than the laser, the more experience your doctor has had, the better.

Answer: Technique more important than the laser itself. Deka is one of the top 5 Co2 lasers on the market today IMO, and I do agree with Dr Ratz that Lumenis probably makes the best Co2 laser. Apart from the laser, the technique is much more important. Sometimes combining fully ablative lasers with fractional lasers is the answer. A face to face consult with your specialist will give them a guide as to your expectations. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
