Waxing your upper lip after a chemical peel has a higher risk of discoloration during the first 4 weeks. If you must do it then 2 weeks would be the soonest and you should definitely use a bleaching cream sparingly at nighttime for the next 2 weeks to prevent hyperpigmentation. You should also use a cortisone cream even if it is over-the-counter twice a day for the first 1-2 days to prevent inflammation which can lead to discolorations. Last but not least, you should be wearing a SPF 15 sunscreen as well. sincerely, David Hansen,MD
Thanks for your question.Waxing should be fine as long as you wait until all the redness from the peel has resolved. As long as you have fully healed from the peel, then you should have no problem doing waxing treatments. If you have any darkness or any other side effects from your peel, do not do a waxing treatment as this may just add to your problem and potentially lead to darkening of the skin that will take much longer to resolve.Good luck!
