Your doctor should have provided you with a post Lipo compression garment or abdominal binder of some sort. I would not wear a "waist trainer" as the inner lining is made of different textured material than a post op compression garment. At 4 days out you should be utilizing some sort of compression. I would add on lymphatic massages and external RF devices to help with skin tightening.
Any garment that provides compression after liposuction should completely cover the area that was treated. The border of the garment shouldn't sit in middle of a treated area or it might leave a groove that might be hard to eliminate. Most patients are OK to wear this type of garment a few months out, not a few days out from surgery.
hello brainjanaeadams If you have had suction of the knees, thigh, or abdomen, the doctor will have put on a compression garment at the end of the surgery. The extra pressure this garment provides helps reduce swelling and discomfort. You should not remove this garment at all until the second or third day after surgery. After that, feel free to remove the garment temporarily for laundering. We want you to have circumferential pressure for 4-6 weeks, but you may switch to an exercise garment (Lycra or Spandex) whenever it feels comfortable to slip it on or off, as you will have to do so in order to go to the bathroom.
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure! It's best to check with your surgeon as they should have provided you with a post-surgical garment to wear for the first several weeks to reduce swelling but in the meantime I do not recommend waist training. Good luck and congratulations again!
I recommend following up with your Doctor about their after care recommendations and protocol regarding waist trainers/compression after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease any swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Every surgeon will have a different opinion when it comes to wearing compression garments after liposuction, so be sure you're following your particular surgeon's advice in this regard. Some may say a waist trainer is fine, others may suggest lighter compression or a different timeline for wearing a compression garment.
Thank you for your question. I wouldn’t recommend wearing a waist trainer four days after SmartLipo. Typically, I give my patients a compression garment to wear after the procedure. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.
Thanks for your question. Yes, that should be fine as long as your small incisions sites look healed. I would take it off for a couple of hours here and there throughout the day, and see your surgeon at about the 1 week mark. Best wishes on your recovery.
It is best to wait at least 2 weeks before switching to a nonsurgical garment which was given to you following surgery because it is specifically designed for liposuction. Every surgeon has there own postoperative guidelines they want you to follow. You should follow up with your surgeon to see what the recommendation is for a waist trainer so soon following surgery.
Thank you for your question. I would recommend compression garment from your PS, but not waist trainer. Please check with your PS as he/she knows your healing
As long as it's been at least 6 months since your first liposuction appointment, a follow-up should be fine. It's not unusual for a surgeon to suggest this. However, a significant amount of loose skin might be better addressed by a different approach to body contouring, such as a tummy tuck. Be...
