6 wks Post Op Smart Lipo on Arms, upper and lower back, stomach. I'm still very sore should I continue wearing compression garments?
Answer: Smart lipo hello puffersteam17 If you have had suction of the knees, thigh, or abdomen, the doctor will have put on a compression garment at the end of the surgery. The extra pressure this garment provides helps reduce swelling and discomfort. You should not remove this garment at all until the second or third day after surgery. After that, feel free to remove the garment temporarily for laundering. We want you to have circumferential pressure for 4-6 weeks, but you may switch to an exercise garment (Lycra or Spandex) whenever it feels comfortable to slip it on or off, as you will have to do so in order to go to the bathroom. #arms #post-op

Answer: 6 weeks post SmartLipo and sore Hi! I would check with your surgeon regarding your soreness. Most patients at 6 weeks are not painfully sore. In regards to compression it never hurts to wear it, even if it's athletic compression. Honestly, call your surgeon and discuss your concerns. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Being sore and needing to continue wearing compression garments are 2 independent issues Garments are intended to control swelling after liposuction. Usually, the greater the amount of fat removed, the longer a garment should be worn. Swelling is not always painful. Pain requires an examination to determine the best course of management and it will subside over time.

Answer: Post Op Hi Puffersteam17, I would suggest you follow up with your surgeon who performed the surgery. Every surgeon will have different requirements as far as how long you need to wear your compression garment. In our office, we have patients wear a garment for a total of two weeks. It is concerning and uncommon to still be very sore at six weeks post op.
