I’m planning on getting a nose job, but I’ve read that there’s a risk of excessive bleeding if the patient is taking blood thinners (such as NSAIDs). I take a dosage of 50mg/day of Galoflam (diclofenac). Would it be possible for me to do the rhinoplasty?
Answer: Would I be able to get a rhinoplasty if I’m taking a low dosage of diclofenac? hello thank you for your question and provided information as well.. based in your question with diclofenac you can bleeding during the surgery , its recommended suspend 2 weeks before surgery.

Answer: Would I be able to get a rhinoplasty if I’m taking a low dosage of diclofenac? You are correct, NSAIDs are typically not recommended when undergoing facial cosmetic surgery. Specifically for rhinoplasty surgery, NSAIDs will increase intraoperative bleeding, which will subsequently lead to more swelling/bruising and a prolonged recovery. This excessive swelling may also not completely resolve leading to issues with your final result. I suggest you speak to your primary physician, to discuss other pain control options. Good Luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty on diclofenac Most things in surgery involve a balance of the risk and benefit. While it would be possible to perform a rhinoplasty on a person who takes NSAIDs, there would be increased risk of bruising and swelling. Perhaps more importantly, bleeding encountered during surgery may hinder the surgeon from giving you the best possible result. Generally speaking, it would be best to get clearance from your medical doctor to discontinue the medication for several days before and after the procedure.

Answer: Would I be able to get a rhinoplasty while on nonsteroidal medication These type of medicines are blood thinners, and the nose has lots of blood vessels in it, so it's important to be off the medications for two weeks before AND two weeks after the procedure. Additional bruising can occur along with a severe nosebleed which will require nasal packing which will significantly complicate the healing process after elective cosmetic nasal surgery. Consider switching over to Celebrex or Tylenol as an anti-inflammatory medication. These medications will not interfere with bleeding. Always best to check with your operative surgeon. Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult operations to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so don't try to complicate it even further with blood thinning products

Answer: Rhinoplasty question Although diclofenac has a low probability of causing bleeding, I would suggest stopping your NSAID's prior to your rhinoplasty to avoid any bleeding complication. The timing of when to stop the medication would be decided between you and your surgeon and also find out when he/she would recommend restarting your medication. Following his/her guidelines, you can safely undergo rhinoplasty.Hope this helps you in your decision to undergo rhinoplasty. Good luck.
