BBL: I am 4 weeks post op and my garment is starting to loosen up. Should I order a smaller garment?

I generally try to get my patients to wear compression over their abdomen for 6 weeks postoperatively, but you'll find no consensus among plastic surgeons on this topic. If you feel as though you still have some swelling or some loose abdominal skin, definitely see if you can find a smaller garment.Hope this helps! Sam Jejurikar, MD

Thank you for your question. I would recommend addressing this with your plastic surgeon. It is difficult to tell without seeing in person. I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.



The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

Thank you for your question.  Every Board Certified Plastic Surgeon has a different post operative protocol.  Contact your surgeon to discuss what they believe is best for you.  

I usually have patients were a garment for 3-6 weeks but every surgeon is different. You should run this by your surgeon.

In general, I recommend my patients to wear compression garments for 5-6 weeks. Some patients do order a smaller garment as the swelling subsides. Consult with your surgeon since each surgeon has a slightly different protocol.

No need to worry about finding another garment. Especially 4 weeks after the procedure you should be fine.

There is very little scientific evidence that compression garments serve any purpose in regards to final results after either liposuction or fat transfer procedures.

In my practice I ask patients to wear compression garments for two weeks and longer if they like wearing them.

You should follow the instructions from your plastic surgeon so I suggest you contact him or her.
