I had juvederm injected in my nasolabial folds and it moved from where it was injected to right above my lip. Why would this happen? Is it due to incorrect injection technique? Can this be prevented in the future?
Answer: Possible migration after Juvederm for nasolabial folds It is very unusual to have fillers migrate and against the flow of gravity, is even more unusual. I recommend following up with your injector. If it is found to be Juvederm, it can be reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps.

Answer: Possible Juvederm Migration after treatment for Nasolabial Folds No, Juvederm is unlikely to migrate. This is probably swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks after your procedure. If it persists, I recommend following up with your injector. If necessary, the Juvederm can be reversed with hyaluronidase. Keep in mind, nasolabial folds need a combination approach to get the most improvement. I recommend fillers for the folds themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, rf treatments, J Plasma and peels to get the most conservative natural look. Please see a facial sculpting expert. Answer: Juvederm to the Nasolabial Folds Juvéderm, or any hyaluronic acid filler, when injected correctly into the nasolabial folds, should not migrate into the upper lip. It is possible that filler in the nasolabial fold can cause the upper lip to look heavier in comparison to the midface however. It is important to keep in mind that causes of nasolabial folds are volume loss in and descent of the midface fat pad. That is why a popular filler strategy for nasolabial folds is actually to fill, restore, and elevate the midface rather than the nasolabial fold itself directly.

Answer: Filler migration There are different fillers with a different physical properties, some stay well within the injected area and some gently diffuse to the surrounding tissue; this, however, is not the true migration. Some fillers like Radiesse are known to migrate on occasion, downward. Is it possible that Juvederm has done it? Very unlikely, but one could never say it is impossible. If it bothers you it could be dissolved with hyaluronidase; otherwise, if it is due to the filler it will eventually disappear being metabolized overtime. Good luck!

Answer: Can filler migrate? Depending when the filler was injected you may still be experiencing swelling. If you are concerned about the results of your treatment please follow up with your treating physician. Good luck with your recovery.
