I had an open rhino to reduce nasal hump and retract nose length a little. My turbinates were worked on also. I've noticed lots of bone like deformities on my nasal bridge humps and bumps that can be mostly seen in harsh lighting. Will this fade with time or will a revision be needed? The bumps on the side of my bridge are noticable mostly on one side and it seems as tho the middle section of my bridge is flat and square. Been taping due to thick oily skin. Thanks in advance.
Answer: Probably revision Thank you very much for sharing your concerns about your Rhinoplasty with us. Congratulations for having patience and wait six months PO, which is the recommended time allowed to make judgments of value and be precise and accurate. After having analyzed all the info and photos provided to us, i recommend to perform a Secondary Rhinoplasty (not a tip revision) this means (basically) treat the nasal bones and the nasal cartilages. Therefore i would perform a narrowing of the nasal base (nose osteotomy) and alar and triangular cartilage shaping. Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Nasal irregularities As your swelling decreases, you tend to notice slight irregularities in the nose. If, after a year or more has passed and they are present discuss with your surgeon.

Answer: Post Rhinoplasty After a rhinoplasty changes can occur up to one year but at 6 months if there are irregularities as you describe, I would recommend you discuss this with your surgeon. He can hopefully let you know how your healing is progressing and whether these irregularities will remain. At 6 months, do not think taping your nose will be of much benefit.

Answer: Irregularities in bridge will they clear up (6 months post op). Although I often recommend no revisions be done before one year as changes can still occur, much can be seen at 6 months. In short, with your description, I suspect the changes you see are there to stay, so you may need a revision, but wait until at least one year. I do not believe that taping will make a difference, but skin health can be changed to reduce oil. Best of luckGarrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS

Answer: Rhinoplasty Concerns at 6 months You are asking thoughtful and appropriate questions about your nose and your current recovery from rhinoplasty. I would discuss these questions with your surgeon and ask for recommendations and advice. At 6 months, with a reduction in soft tissue swelling, sometimes dorsal irregularities become more noticeable. Should this persist or become more noticeable you may need to consider a revision procedure. On a side note, I have not found that taping the nose, especially with oily skin, offers any significant benefit. I hope your physician can offer you reassurance and guidance. If not, consider a second opinion for further recommendations. Kind Regards.
