Thanks for your question. At my practice, I do perform combo procedures including the BBL and high definition vaserlipo abdominal etching. I recommend you seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in performing the BBL and abdominal etching and has clean credentials. Take care, Moises Salama MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
VASER liposuction can be used to allow for smoother liposuction, etching, and a quicker recovery. The harvested fat is used for a BBL. You have to do the liposuction and BBL in the same procedure so yes these are done at the same time.
Dear DestinyVJ,I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Abdominal Etching is a liposuction procedure done by surgeons for high definition body contouring. The Harvested fat will then be purified and injected into the buttocks area for a fuller look. They can be done together yes.
Etching is not a separate procedure. It is a term used for how liposuction is done. Typically etching or high definition body contouring is done by surgeons over treating muscle intersection lines and leaving some fat to look like muscle. This over emphasizing muscle fullness through subcutaneous fat has a tendency to make people look silly and cartoon like unless they have tight skin are very lean and young. Any shift in skin position will move the bulging fat that is supposed to mimic muscle into a different position that clearly looks unnatural. For this reason people with any skin laxity should avoid high definition work or etching. Likewise people who are even slightly overweight tend to not get natural results from this form of liposuction.High definition or etching is often promoted to be done with VASER which is an ultrasound treatment prior to traditional Liposuction. It is been heavily promoted by a Colombian surgeon named Alfredo Hojos, MD(he is a representative for sound surgical who makes VASER equipment) Personally I think this form of liposuction is overused and leaves too many people disfigured. In my opinion the number of people who are good candidates for high definition work are limited. It tends to be athletic young men and all of them take a risk for having a ridiculous body contour if they gain weight with age. Personally I’ve never met a patient who had a good high definition or etching outcome. I’ve seen pictures of patients who appeared to have a good outcomes but any patient was come to my office and had high definition work in the past has always been looking to have the work reversed or corrected. Perhaps that is because patients who’ve had high-quality work are pleased with their outcomes but it is concerning to me that I’ve never met someone who is happy with previous etching.Personally I try to mimic drastic weight loss with body contouring emphasizing ideal S curves on women. To me those type of results are more natural and overall appealing than trying to look like a competitive bodybuilder while still carrying an extra 30 pounds of fat.The answer to your question is that etching can be done anytime Liposuction is done. It can be done with any Liposuction Equipment. In my opinion it is not always a good idea.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
