Answer: Surgical candidate Great question! I always get a clearance from an internist for every patient that undergoes surgery. Once your blood doctor finishes all the testing they need to do, I would see an internal medicine physician to clear you for surgery. Once that happens then you should be safe to proceed.Best of luck and hope this information helps! - Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsai Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Breast augmentation with abnormal labs The good news is that you found out about the abnormal labs before you're all set for surgery. Obviously, you will want to do everything that you can to find out why your platelets are so high. Ultimately, you will hope to have them lowered by the time of surgery, but there are options that would still allow you to have surgery and medically manage your risks around the time of surgery. So complete your work-up and recognize that very likely you are still going to be able to have the surgery that you desire. Make sure to choose a plastic surgeon that is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and that uses an accredited surgical facility with and MD anesthesiologist. This is the safest that you can possible by with surgery. Good luck, and I wish you well.
