Thanks for the question. Both Fraxel and Laser Genesis work by stimulating collagen production to refresh and rejuvenate skin from the inside out. More important than the device used is the experience of the doctor administering the treatment. I encourage you to find a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist with extensive experience in one or both of these devices. Discuss your concerns and goals in detail at your initial consultation to ensure your outcome meets your expectations.
Fraxel or Co2 are best for resurfacing. I always combine lasers with microneedling/prp for more robust outcomes. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Fraxel laser will give you better collagen stimulation with resurfacing of fine lines and wrinkles and some downtime (healing). Laser Genesis is a great option for collagen stimulation, reduction of erythema (redness) with mild improvement of texture in the skin. There is no downtime with Laser Genesis.
CO2 is the Gold Standard, but Fraxel does not make a good CO2 laser (rePair), much better CO2 lasers out there, Genesis is a slow but good method of collagen production. You do need to see someone that has all the lasers, Co2, 1550 Fraxel , 1064 Genesis, etc.... then negotiate downtime, sessions, expected outcomes and match it with your skin type. Its more complex than using 'a laser'. I wish you well, DR Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
