Yes, cheek implants are done safely and commonly in men.  Because the implants come in different shapes and sizes, they can be customized to your face and bone structure.  Men typically have a less angulated cheek prominence than women, so that is definitely taken into account when planning your surgery so that you don't come out looking like a drag queen.  I am not a proponent of removing buccal fat in these cases because it can cause a very aged appearance and the cheek implant alone will likely create the look you are going for.  I know you have a bad experience with fat, but you might also want to research Voluma or Radiesse as alternative non-surgical fillers so that you are fully informed of all the options before proceeding with cheek augmentation with implants.  Consult with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon to discuss your options in person. Cheek implants come in different styles and sizes, and if the correct one is used, it should look natural and can work very well in men.  I would not recommend fat removal on the lower face, as this tends to make the face appear older.  Having the implants should help by themselves.  

Cheek implants for male look are your best choice IF you see an experienced surgeon who does not create a fake look. I would not have fat removal since u will need this as u age!

It is very common for men to send picture similar to the one you sent to get something similar to the cheek prominence in that photo, implant is necessary and implantable injectables don't work well and are not permanent usually also including fat injections. I personally use implants which come in different shapes and sizes. There is also a way to remove the buccal fat underneath the implants to try to get the sunken look under them. A lot depends on the shape and fullness or roundness of your cheeks and face before surgery. I would need to know what they look like now, with good pictures – front, 2 profile,2 three-quarter views. Cheek implants on men are very natural and the look is angularity.  In my opinion, fat injections can not give thatangular look.  I have been performing cheek implants on men for over 20 years and have great results.  Adding angularity to the mandibular angle (jawline) also helps.
