Hello, thank you for your question. One downside of buccal fat removal is that it can make patients look skeletonized as they get older. During the consultation, I find it helpful to see pictures of a patient's mother, in order to see if they are genetically predisposed to have a thinned out face with age. If so, I do not recommend the procedure or recommend a more conservative buccal fat removal. Botox to the masseter muscles may be an option. I would recommend that you have a board certified physician or an experienced injector to examine you in person.
Thank you for your question. Buccal fat pad removal is designed to slim the mid to lower face by removing the small pocket of fat inside the cheek. It does not affect how you age, but keep in mind that gravity and collagen loss will impact your appearance over time with or without buccal fat pad removal. You can expect to see some skin laxity and jowl formation as you age. These concerns can also be addressed as they arise, through both surgical and nonsurgical treatments. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon for an in-person assessment and a customized treatment plan geared toward your current needs and goals.
