Is it possible to break your sutures or compromise your tummy tuck work if you have sex after 20 days.
Answer: Sex after Tummy tuck? Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to specific information/advice. He/she knows exactly what was done and how you are progressing. Careful/gentle sexual activity should not generate enough force to break sutures. Concerns would include an increase in heart rate and the potential for bleeding. Muscle spasm may be painful. Obviously, significant pressure on the surgical site is not a good idea either. It is not uncommon for patients to report increased swelling that occurs after vigorous exercise (including sexual activity), even several months after tummy tuck surgery.I hope this helps.

Answer: It is possible. It all depends on intensity of love making. Yes, intense physical exertion can disrrupt stitches. Be cautious.

Answer: Tummy tuck Thank you for your question. My patients have not had this problem. I do tell my patients that they can have sex 3 weeks after surgery. When I tighten the muscles and close the skin I use interrupted sutures. Some surgeons use a running suture. The advantage of using a running suture includes less time to suture you up. This disadvantage: if the suture breaks in one place your entire repair falls apart. That's why I use interrupted sutures. With interrupted sutures if one suture breaks you still have the other sutures holding the repair in place.
