Why cheek implants vs. fat grafting or fillers? Or why not?

I had every type of filler put in my face. The volume either disappeared within weeks or left lumps and granules. I then had a face-lift with fat transfer The fat completely disappeared on one side of my face. A little lasted on one side creating bad asymmetry. The surgeon suggested Sculptra. I've had Sculptra at least 15 times, by different doctors over the past 12 years - no improvement in building up the right side of my face or creating symmetry. Are cheek implants a safe option?

If your surgeon has performed facial plastic surgery, removal of a cheek implant should be a VERY easy surgery to do - especially since you said you had silicone implants. They do not integrate with the tissue. A X-ray before had may be beneficial to see if they were anchored with screws which...

It is impossible to comment on your result without before photos and in person exam. Rather than removing implants you may consider replacement with smaller implants; flat face is never an attractive face. You should discuss these issues with your surgeon and/or sonsider second opinion consult...

Your issues are subtle and only on the basis of in person evaluation one could give you good suggestions. In person consultation or a teleconference with a baord certified plastic surgeon with expertise in facial imlants, is recommended. Good luck.

Implants are placed by creating a pocket and sliding the implant into that pocket over the desired area of augmentation. Some surgeons place the implant into a snug pocket to avoid migration. If the pocket is too large, the implant can slide out of place. If it's too small, there can be too...

You do appear to have volume loss of the anterior maxilla creating a negative vector with respect to your cornea. Cheek implants would be beneficial in this situation. This should also help to decrease the deepening nasolabial folds by suspending this tissue.
