Pain, hives, redness, swelling, itching after breast augmentation. What can I do? (Photo)

I had a breast augmentation April 2023 and almost a year later I am experiencing pain, hives, redness, swelling, itching, I’m not sure what to do or who to contact I am absolutely miserable, I’ve been to emergency multiple times and this is just not going away. I woke up this morning and my face is swollen. Please help.

Hi there,
I would recommend that you go to your primary doctor and start a workup for your symptoms. What you are describing is very generic meaning there are many things that could cause your symptoms. You will need lab work, allergy tests, etc. I would not immediately jump to the implants as the cause until it has been investigated

Thanks for your question! I might suggest talking to a dermatologist. It could be completely unrelated to the implants. However, if you want to ensure that symptoms completely resolve after you've ruled out everything else, you should seek out a plastic surgeon for explant. Good luck!

From the description of your symptoms you are experiencing an allergic reaction.  As your surgery was about a year ago the two are not likely related.  I encourage you to visit with your primary care provider for an evaluation.

You are having an allergic reaction which could be to any number of things, but probably not related to your implants. You need to go to your medical doctor and be tested for food, metals, and other allergies.  The emergency room will not be able to help you with this.

Thanks for your question. I suggest you make an appointment to see your plastic surgeon as well as your primary care physician. At least one of those doctors should be able to determine whether the symptoms you are experiencing are related to your breast augmentation or if their is another cause for them.
