SculpSure are 2 applicators not as effective as 4?

The key to obtaining a good result with Sculpsure is to use the correct number of applicators. Every patient is different depending on their body type. For instance, larger body frames will require 4 applicators to cover an abdomen vs 2 applicators in a petite patient. The energy is the same per PAC placed on top of the applicator. Full effect will be obtained under each applicator.

The number of applicators used are based on the size of area treated. So if the area of fat treated is small 2 applicators may be sufficient.

The applicators are simply placed on the areas to be treated, and the laser begins to disrupt the subcutaneous fat cells, heating them and prompting the body to dispose of them. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to determine your candidacy.

You have been misinformed.  The principle of fat removal is that only the fat directly under the applicator will be absorbed from induced cell death from the laser energy. You can only put one applicator over every area, so the only difference between two and four applicators is the surface treated, not the depth. If an area is small and only needs two applicators to cover it, two is the correct number to use. Up to four applicators can be used at once, and that is based on the area of coverage desired. Some abdomens may require twice as many applicators as others, depending on the size of the patient and where the excess fat is distributed.  Also each applicator is programmed to deliver the same energy fluence.  This is how the science dictates how much energy is enough but not too much.  It would be illogical to have a multiple of the proper energy delivered depending on whether less than four applicators were used.  This would result in an unsafe higher energy and this is not  the  way the machines are designed.

The applicators for Sculpsure are simply a unit of surface area. Larger areas require more applicators. The energy is not increased or decreased by the number used.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS). 

Hi and thank you for your question! The number of applicator attached during SculpSure treatment is determined based on the treated area and to provide adequate coverage. The energy delivered by each applicator is independent of others and if your doctor has determined that you need only 2 applicators, the energy delivered by the two is not negatively affected in any ways and you should not be concerned. The number of SculpSure applicators needed to treat an area is determined by the size of the area to be treated.  In some instances, only one applicator may be needed.  In other cases, two, three or four or more applicators may be needed.  If an area can be covered with two applicators, then using more applicators would be a waste because the additional applicators would not be targeting fat cells.  

SculpSure allows the physician to really customize the treatment for each individual patient.  There are 4 applicators that can be used for one treatment.  The 4 applicators can be configured in different combinations to provide the best results.  Sometimes all 4 in a row can be best, other times 2 on one side and 2 on the other will be the best option, other times a combination of 1 and 3 will be best.  Only using 2 applicators for a treatment might be reasonable and if you're only being charged for 2 applicators then it should be fine.  No energy is being "wasted" if only 2 applicators are being used.  I recommend you discuss with your doctor to fully understand their reasoning for your treatment.

It is absolutely true that 4 is better than 2 as you will be treating only a smaller circumference. Energy delivered is the same and that is why they have 4 applicator so that we can use one at a time or two at a time or all four at a time. Cost wise it may also NOT be beneficial as you will not get a big saving. For us from a business point of view, we have to fire up the machine and the doctors time and aesthetician  which will be the same for one adapter of 4 adapters, so if 4 are recomended, its in your best intrest to do all 4 at the same time.  

I think you've been misinformed.  Each applicator has its own laser.  You can turn it on or off.  There's no concept of "wasting" energy if one or more applicators are not used at a treatment session.  The number of applicators to use depends on the size of the area you want treated.  If the area calls for 4 applicators, then you use 4. 
I can guess what she might be alluding to.  For my practice, we charge patients a fixed fee treatment session, regardless if 2 or 4 applicators are used in the session.  I've never had a patient not use all 4, but it is possible that can happen.  So let's say the office charges you $1500 for a session, which entitled you to use all 4 applicators, but you chose to use only 2.  Then in essence you are not maximizing your money.  But that's not the same as wasting energy or somehow making the session less effective.  The treatment area is getting the full benefit of the SculpSure lasers that were used on that area.
