Can an area look more fat after a 2nd SculpSure treatment at the 6 wks mark if exercise and diet are maintained as always?

If you gained weight since your SculpSure treatment, a treated area can become larger.  However, if you maintained the same weight, nothing about SculpSure should increase the appearance of fat or looseness of the skin.  Sometimes people get nodules that they can feel in the treated area.  It generally takes up to 6 weeks for those to resolve. At times it may be longer.  Perhaps that is what you are noticing.  If you have concerns, you should go back to see your treating doctor and compare your before and after photos to see the actual response.

Your experience is unusual. Like every treatment performed, something unusual can occur. It doesn't make sense that fat will recur assuming continued diet and exercise. It is possible that fat was dissolved unevenly and another treatment would be necessary. Please consult again with your doctor.

I think doing the second treatment at six weeks is OK, but if you were pretty thin to begin with, you could have waited the full 12 weeks, because that is the time when you see final results. Now you should just wait another 12 weeks and evaluate final results from your second treatment.  If there are continuing issues that concern you, your plastic surgeon can address them.  If loose skin occurs, there are skin tightening treatments available.  

Keep in mind, you may have swelling which may last for 3-6 months after Sculpsure. A combination of treatments is needed for best results with Sculpsure. I recommend combining Sculpsure with Vanquish and Venus Legacy/Exilis Ultra treatments. A VASER hi definition procedure would give you the best results with fat removal and athletic definition but would require more downtime. Sounds like you still have swelling from your 2nd treatment, and if you are saying you retreated the area at 6 weeks there can still be swelling from that visit.
Just follow the post care, massage 2-3 times a day for 5-10 minutes, exercise and drink lots of fluids. You should see improvement by 12 weeks.

I have never heard of a patient "gaining" fat after a second treatment. How long ago was your second treatment? You could still be swollen. My best advice would be for you wait until you are 12 weeks post treatment and then have "after" photos taken and compare them to your "before" photos. Best of luck.

I understand your concerns regarding your treatment results.  Quite possibly you are having prolonged reactive swelling, that should be expected to resolve over the next few weeks.  Given your petite body habitus, this swelling may be magnified in the short-term.  Additionally, I would expect skin laxity to resolve as well over the next few weeks, as your skin creates new collagen.  I think if you compare before and after photos in a few weeks, you will be happy with the results.

sculpsure is a laser that is specifically designed to increase the temperature of the treated fat through a non invasive technique.  As the temperature rises and the heat radiates you can get some initial swelling the treated area that I have going can last 2 weeks for most and longer for others but the optimal results are seen at 12 weeks post treatment.  I have found that treating the same area twice does give improved results and can be repeated as early as 4 weeks from the prior treatment but the maximum results still won't be seen for 12 weeks from the last treatment. The heat from the treatment tends to radiate resulting in some tightening effects of the skin in the area. If it has been less than 12 weeks from the last treatment then wait for the 12 weeks and get your post treatment photos done and keep in mind weight loss can cause loosening of skin turgor and changes in the non treated areas making the results to the eye seem different than the photos.  So go back and get those post treatment photos and see if that might clarify things for you 

Thanks for your question. Some patients report swelling after treatment, but after 6 weeks, it should be resolved. I recommend taking your progress photos at 12 weeks after the second treatment. As your body goes through normal, daily changes, you may feel that you are not making the progress you want to. Before / after pictures will be better indicators of it.Good luck!
