I am considering having a lipoma removed on my lower back but it is larger than 10 cm in diameter and my surgeon has advised that drainage over 3-4 days will be necessary due to possibility of fluid accumulation and subsequent infection risk. I have heard from other doctors however that this is not required and that the lipoma is simply excised and incision will be sutured. Which is the more common alternative for a lipoma located on the lower left back? Thanks
