Question

3 wks post Rhino to remove a dorsal hump and stop the tip from dropping when smiling as well as Sinus surgery and i still have a very prominent dorsal hump (not near as large as pre-surgery but not the results i was hoping for). I am concerned whether this will be permanent or is just swelling from the rasping of the bone. When the cast came off, the bridge was basically straight. now the bump seems to be getting larger almost and is hard to the touch. surgeon already mentioned revision

Thanks much for reaching out. I do see what you were describing. There's a chance that there may still be some residual bone that needs to be taken away. However I would caution about doing this too soon. I would wait at least six months after original surgery to consider ever vision.  Hope this helps :-)

Thanks for your question. If the bridge was straight when the cast was taken off, then this is likely swelling related. If it persists over the next few weeks, a small injectable steroid can be used to decrease swelling more quickly.  It's normal to have swelling that persists up to one year for primary rhinoplasty. Good luck!

3 weeks after rhinoplasty is very early in the healing process after rhinoplasty. The nose continues to change with time. Generally, patients are advised to wait several months, if not at least one year, before considering revision surgery. Continue followup care with your plastic surgeon as the nose heals.Best,Dr. Chaboki

Some of what you see may be swelling, but it may not get any better. Time will tell.  If at a year it is still there, then it is possible that a small procedure to rasp it down may be necessary.
