5 months post op Smart Lipo, still swollen, bumpy in areas, and lopsided (Photo)

Question

I got my flanks, upper and lower abdomen done. Is it normal to have large swollen bumps, and a large swollen bump under the bellie button, also it looks as though there is a large pocket of fat on my left side and a dip in my right side. It really looks awful I look worse than I did before getting it.

With your pictures it is evident that you have significant irregularities and uneven skin and contour after your liposuction. Without an exam it is difficult to define whether the problem is incomplete and uneven fat removal, significant internal scar tissue, fluid build up (seromas) and also there is also very poor skin tone. If after the exam by an experienced surgeon the problem is just inadequate prior liposuction a new liposuction can improve the problem. Obviously adding a tummy tuck to your revision would enhance the final result. Good luck

Based on your photo, you have some skin laxity which makes you a better candidate for a tummy tuck and liposuction. I suggest you see a VASER hi def 4D contouring expert, to get more contour, shape, or definition. SmartLipo does very little for body shaping and skin tightening. It looks like you have had scar tissue develop or a seroma after surgery that wasn't treated with your procedure. I suggest you speak to your physician or see a VASER HI DEF expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

After this amount of time, I would expect your results to be more even.  It's hard to tell from the photos whether there are residual areas of fat that were not removed or whether it is purely an issue with sagging skin.
A consultation with your surgeon and possibly a 2nd opinion may be needed.  If there is residual fat, a more thorough repeat procedure (ie. revision) should be done first, followed by a skin tightening procedure.  If skin tightening alone is the issue, then the second treatment alone will be enough.
